The Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders of Perugia provides diagnosis, treatment and support with a multidisciplinary team of dedicated neurologists, neuropsychologists, physiatrists, physiotherapists, specialized nurses, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, gastroenterologists and geneticists.
Approximately 35 movement disorders outpatient visits are scheduled every week (about 1800 visits yearly). Patients with movement disorders can be admitted in the Neurology ward (20 beds) and day-hospital (4 beds) for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, including management and treatment of complicated phases.
In cooperation with “Unione Parkinsoniani Perugia”, the Center promotes programs of physical activities, psychological training, speech and occupational therapy tailored according to the disease stage. The Center also promotes education for general practitioners, neurologists and nurses with courses and seminars open also to patients and caregivers.
In addition to clinical activities, research is carried out in collaboration with national and international centers and is mainly focused on diagnostic and prognostic role of fluid biomarkers.
