Manos Blancas Choir at Palazzo Strozzi

Manos Blancas Choir at Palazzo Strozzi

On Wednesday, May 31st at 5:30 pm a choral concert will be held in the Courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi featuring a group of young people with disabilities who will sing and “sign” the music in keeping with the practice of the Manos Blancas. For three years, these students have been attending the Music School of Sesto Fiorentino, home to the “Music without Barriers” Department, a center for educational, therapeutic, training, and research activities around the relationship between music and disability.

The students, who come from associations partnered with the project (Felicittà, Cooperativa la Fonte di Cercina, Centro La Palma di Scandicci) join members of the children’s choir of the Sesto Music School, interpreting the lyrics of the music through gestural expression derived from Italian Sign Language.

The event, with free admission, is organized by the Fondazione Limpe in cooperation with the Fresco Institute Italia to support research on Parkinson’s disease.
