Movement disorders are heterogeneous diseases in terms of epidemiology, aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and management.

The simplistic definition of “movement disorders” , as they have been historically named, sounds somewhat inappropriate. Alterations of motor function are in fact only one of their many manifestations: a wide array of non-motor symptoms, such as cognitive and behavioral abnormalities, are often the most important determinants of the patient’s quality of life.

This picture is further complicated by aspects such as punding or the dopamine dysregulation syndrome, symptoms that results from drugs administered precisely to treat movement disorders.

Moreover, some specific clinical problems emerge when some of these drugs are reduced or suspended, as in the case of dopamine-agonist withdrawal syndrome.

These considerations should be clear to everybody involved in the diagnosis and treatment of these pathologies. Therefore, the Institute is proposing a series of meetings to facilitate the exchange of clinical experience and evidence of the professional figures involved in the care of movement disorders.

This cycle of meetings, developed by the Fresco Parkinson Institute Italia  in collaboration with the Neurological Clinic of Trieste University, is an active forum to involve in particular the younger generation of professionals.

Registration is free of charge

The course will be arranged into 7 weekly meetings that will be held between 27/05/2020 and 31/12/2020.
Only synchronous participation is admitted.

To obtain the credits, participation in at least 5 of the 7 scheduled meetings is required.
