PRINT

Parkinson’s disease is one the most common neurodegenerative diseases. The repercussions on patients’ autonomy and quality of life as well as the impact on welfare are enormous.

Over the past twenty years, research on the effects of rehabilitation in Parkinson’s disease has grown exponentially. The results have demonstrated the effectiveness of physiotherapy in (i) slowing the progression of the disease, (ii) improving functional aspects with a positive impact on activities of day living and quality of life, (iii) inducing neuroplasticity-related phenomena.

The present course is directed to physiotherapists and is based on the observation that specialized care improves the quality of life of patients with Parkinson, reducing falls and mortality while decreasing health care costs.

Recipients: Physiotherapists

Moderator: Susanna Mezzarobba, Elisa Pelosin

Objective: The training course for physiotherapists aims to provide theoretical and practical preparation based on scientific evidence of rehabilitation in Parkinson’s disease and to train professionals with high-profile and specific professional skills.

Course structure: The course will be structured as follows:

1) The basic course (preparatory to the following ones) aims to provide the basics of neurophysiology, clinical practice, evaluation and design of rehabilitation treatment;

2) As part of the Advanced Course, specific topics will be covered in order to examine innovative subjects and themes in the rehabilitation field.
