Pietro Domestici (Physiotherapist with top level postgraduate qualification in the treatment of Parkinson’s. PWR (United States, Becky Farley))

Silvia Nezosi (Neuropsychologist with many years of experience; she has been collaborating with the European Parkinson Therapy Center for 8 years)

Alex Reed (Founder and Director of European Parkinson, Practice Expert and lead voice for the rights of People with Parkinson’s)

Elisa Pelosin (Physiotherapist.  Professor of the University of Genova – Fresco Parkinson Network of Genova)

Live demonstrations, videos and an interactive instruction (hands-on workshops) will be used to discuss practical exercises and treatment plans, aimed at implementing this approach in the different stages of the disease.

Targets

In this course, 4 objectives coexist:

  1. Provide skills and methodology in planning rehabilitation treatment;
  2. Combining the skills learned with a new perspective: it is not just the application of techniques but the importance of empathy in dealing with them;
  3. Explain the importance of movement as it is an essential pillar to maintain the quality of life of a person with Parkinson’s disease;
  4. Learn about the rehabilitation approach founded by Becky Farley

Post Graduate Course

This in-depth course offers a method for Parkinson’s rehabilitation using specific techniques. The course demonstrates that it is possible to help people through physiotherapy, in order to maximize their potential and quality of life using precise methods targeted to the needs of the individual.

European Parkinson Training Center in collaboration with Fresco Academy as well as with the support of the European Parkinson Disease Association , Neurofit Networks USA (Scientific Director: Dr Becky Farley), is pleased to offer this program which has greatly improved the lives of people with Parkinson’s.

Module 1

Module 1 (6 hours)

Literature review: from main symptoms to underlying mechanisms

15:15 The 4 Regen Pillars. Multidisciplinary treatment protocol

16:30 Second Pillar: Physical Exercise

17:30 Exercise as a medicine: ‘Why’ and ‘What’, basic indications on the importance

exercise in Parkinson’s disease.

Module 2

Module 2 (9 hours)

8:00 Exercise as a medicine: The essential elements of the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, progressive and Parkinson-specific exercise

9:00 Practical session : Explanation and demonstration of the 4 PWRs! Moves ® in the main positions by the teacher

11:45 Clinical evaluation : from history to physical tests

13:45 Evaluation and treatment of the voluntary patient by the teacher in a collective session
