Hydrokinesitherapy for Parkinson’s disease

In the rehabilitation of Parkinson’s disease, great advantages are also obtained with hydrokinesitherapy (or rehabilitation in water), as water reduces the gravity load, restoring fluidity, lightness and naturalness to the movements. It is possible to work on the control of posture, balance and motor coordination, accustoming the body to changes in trim stimulated by the movement of water in association with the use of aids. Walking is easier in the pool, as all walking disorders are more controllable thanks to the decrease in body weight given by the water. Therefore, it does not act as an exclusive or alternative method compared to others, but rather as a tool that, together with and integrated with other practices, can offer an effective contribution in achieving the goals of the physiotherapy course.
