The Fresco Parkinson Institute (FPI) Foundation was established in 2015 as an international non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Fresco Parkinson Institute Foundation was founded thanks to a donation of 25 million US dollars of which 18 million was allocated to the Foundation “Marlene and Paolo Fresco Institute for Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders” based in New York University (NYU) Langone Health in Manhattan. The main purpose of the contemporary presence in the two countries is to promote a scientific and cultural exchange that improves the quality of life of patients through research and training of operators and caregivers.

“There are many things we do not know about Parkinson’s and with this donation we have the opportunity to change the paradigm of taking charge of this devastating disease. The collaboration with the Italian Scientific and Medical communities is a key element of this program which will benefit both countries. I thought it was right to allocate my donations to the two countries to which I am bound by particular gratitude; Italy that gave me birth and education and the United States that gave me generous opportunities for professional growth.

– Paolo Fresco

We want to learn more about the causes of Parkinson’s and improve the quality of life of those affected with it.

We want to provide a scientific basis to the non-pharmacological interventions that help patients to remain active for as long as possible and to live their lives to the fullest.

We promote academic and scientific programs and collaboration between the United States and Italy, which allow an interdisciplinary impulse to basic scientific and clinical research.

We fund an innovative fellowship program for junior Italian basic science scientists, clinicians and researchers expatriated to New York University Langone Health to conduct research and study the best models of integrative and multidisciplinary care for the patient.
